Is It Time To Update Your Programming?

You know that moment where your computer will suddenly force you to shut down so it can install some updates, because you just can’t go on with the old operating system?

I wish our brains could do that. We’ll just keep going with the operating system that got programmed when we were seven years old, even though an update would really help us.

Here are some updates I’ve installed over the years.

Original Programming:

My number one job is to make everyone else comfortable and happy. Doesn’t matter who they are or what they need.

Updated Programming:

I get to decide what’s best for me first.

Original Programming:

I can make good money, but it has to be hard and I have to work a ton of hours.

Updated Programming:

I can love my job, help people, and make money all at the same time.

Original Programming:

I can make good money, but it has to be hard and I have to work a ton of hours.

Updated Programming:

I can love my job, help people, and make money all at the same time.

Original Programming:

I need to make sure everyone else sees my life as perfect, and I’ll do anything to make that possible

Updated Programming:

No one is perfect, and being vulnerable and real is what creates true connection.

HOT OFF THE PRESS

“You know what you need to do. You're just not doing it.”

You ever notice how you can suddenly become incredibly productive… as long as it’s NOT the thing you actually need to do?

Most people think procrastination is a discipline problem. It’s not.

Procrastination is emotional avoidance dressed up as productivity. That’s why you can spend hours doing small, easy tasks while completely avoiding the meaningful one.

Instead of teaching another surface-level productivity trick, this episode helps you understand the real reason procrastination keeps showing up… and why simply becoming aware of the emotion behind it can completely change the way you move forward.

Sometimes the biggest breakthrough isn’t forcing yourself harder. It’s finally understanding yourself better.

“Stress activates fight or flight, and sleep is impossible when you're in fight or flight.”

✔️ Wake up at 2:13 a.m.

✔️ Check the clock.

✔️ Start calculating how many hours you’ll get IF you fall asleep immediately.

✔️ Spiral into thinking about tomorrow’s to-do list, that awkward conversation from three days ago, and whether you remembered to reply to that email.

Sleep isn’t about trying harder to rest. It’s about helping your body feel safe enough to relax.

And when you stop fighting your body and start getting curious about what’s actually keeping you awake, things begin to change.

My conversation with life coach and former bad sleeper Lauren Rapaport is full of practical, simple tools to help you calm your nervous system, quiet racing thoughts, and finally get back to sleep.
