Join the Anti-Hustle Movement

Hustle culture is the mindset that every waking hour of your day should be spent working or doing something otherwise productive. You’re supposed to be “always on”, work long hours, and show off the bags under your eyes from no sleep.

Shockingly, this isn’t very good for us.

Recent studies show that 77% of people report experiencing burnout at work.

42% have left a job because of burnout.

55% of American workers report feeling the need to be “always on” and constantly available for work.

Studies link hustle culture with chronic stress, anxiety, and depression, and working more than 55 hours a week increases your chance of a stroke by 33% and a heart attack by 13%.

Studies also show that people are LESS productive after working a certain amount of hours.

So why do we keep doing this?

What I see is 3 main things:

  1. Because “everyone else is doing it”.

  2. Because we tie our worthiness to how productive we are.

  3. Because we’re afraid if we don’t, we’re falling behind.

Why do we keep engaging with and playing into hustle culture, even when we know it’s not good for us?

HOT OFF THE PRESS

“Do you actually want to say yes?”

Overwhelm doesn’t always come from bad time management. Sometimes it comes from decisions we never actually made.

When “yes” becomes your automatic default, your time slowly fills with things you didn’t intentionally choose.

The challenge is most of us feel pressure to answer immediately. We want to be helpful, avoid awkwardness, and not disappoint people—so we respond too quickly.

And that’s how we end up committed to things we never really thought through.

But when you pause—even briefly—you shift from reacting to requests to choosing what actually belongs in your life. Doesn’t that sound so much better??

“Your body is keeping score.”

Most of us think stress lives in our minds. We imagine it as overthinking, worrying, or racing thoughts. But the truth is, stress often shows up in the body first.

Tight shoulders.

A clenched jaw.

Headaches.

Digestive issues.

Feeling wired but exhausted.

Our body will send us signals that something isn’t right, but high achievers and people pleasers are often really good at ignoring those signals.

We power through exhaustion. We ignore tension. We tell ourselves, “I’ll rest later.” Until one day, our body stops asking politely.

This episode will help you catch the signs of overwhelm and stress before your body forces a reset.
