Your Summer Book List

If you’re in the mood for a dose of self-improvement this summer, I’ve got just the thing! We have an entire podcast series of short (6 minutes of less) episodes that summarize 10 of my favorite, most recommend self help books.

You can either just get the summary and apply what you’ve learned, or read the actual book if you feel like it’s something you really need. Check them all out here:

  1. Essentialism by Greg McKeown (Episode #238)

Summary: Achieving more meaningful success comes from disciplined focus on a few truly important things and saying no to everything else.

  2. Love Yourself Like Your Life Depends on It by Kamal Ravikant (Episode #234)

Summary: Learning to practice self-love can dramatically change the way you think, feel, and live.

  3. Grit by Angela Duckworth (Episode #230)

Summary: Sustained effort and perseverance are more important than raw talent for achieving success.

  4.  The Four Tendencies by Gretchen Rubin (Episode #226)

Summary: Learn what your “response type” is so you can design your life and goals around how you actually operate instead of fighting your natural instincts.

  5. Atlas of the Heart  by Brene Brown (Episode #220)

Summary: A map and explanation of  87 emotions and experiences to help you recognize, name, and understand what you're actually feeling so you can navigate life with greater emotional awareness.

  6.  Burnout: The Secret to Unlocking the Stress Cycle by Emily Nagoski and Amelia Nagoski (Episode #216)

Summary: Burnout isn't caused by working too hard, but by stress that gets trapped in your body—and you can prevent it by learning to complete your body's stress cycle.

  7. The Gap and The Gain by Dan Sullivan and Dr. Benjamin Hardy (Episode #210)

Summary: Measuring what you HAVE accomplished (the gain) rather than against an ideal or others (the gap) is what creates fulfillment and motivation.

  8. Present Over Perfect by Shauna Niequist (Episode #206)

Summary: Letting go of perfectionism and the pressure to have everything figured out allows you to actually be present in your life and relationships.

  9. Finding Your Own North Star by Martha Beck (Episode #200)

Summary: Identify your authentic desires and values so you can navigate life based on what actually matters to you, not what others expect.

  10. The Seven Primal Questions by Mike Foster (Episode #196)

Summary: Figure out the single core question quietly driving your entire life—your relationships, career, patterns, and self-worth—and learn to leverage it as a superpower instead of being controlled by it.

HOT OFF THE PRESS

“Only 9% of women (less than 1 in 10!) report that they go on vacation, don't work, and relax.”

I used to pack for vacation like I was moving offices. Laptop? Check. Work email? Always on. "Just in case" mindset? Definitely.

I'd leave the office, but my brain never did.

Sound familiar?

If taking time off makes you feel guilty or constantly tempted to "just check one email," you're not lazy or unmotivated—you're stuck in a cycle that makes rest feel uncomfortable. But real rest starts when you stop believing everything depends on you.

This episode explores why so few women truly relax on vacation and how to create the mental space to actually enjoy your time away. Listen now to stop working and start recharging.

“The discomfort of setting (and holding) a boundary is 100% worth it.”

We often believe overwhelm is solved by finding more time. But overwhelm usually shrinks when we protect the time we already have.

Most people stay stuck because they think boundaries create problems—at work, at home, in relationships. So they avoid them and stay overwhelmed instead.

One healthy boundary doesn't just change one habit—it changes the way you show up at work, at home, in your relationships, and even in the quiet moments you forgot you were allowed to enjoy. Small boundaries create surprisingly big ripple effects.

If you’re tired of feeling like work never really ends, this episode will show you how one small shift can change everything. Listen now and start creating space that actually lasts.
